What I do
I’m a former magazine editor, columnist and style director, with over 30 years of experience in the magazine and newspaper industries on both sides of the Atlantic. I co-founded Triyoga, ivillage uk and Roadscents.com and I’ve worked for most of the big names in the media business, from Anna Wintour to Diane Von Furstenburg, Barry Diller and Rupert Murdoch. Additionally, I spent a year working as a TV presenter for a live cable channel in the USA. These days, I write books, consult for luxury brands, run my own business and coach/mentor clients, from young journalists, writers and artists, to mid and later life career changers, to entrepreneurs and women going through the challenging process of divorce.
What I don’t do
I do not coach or mentor children, teenagers, those seeking spiritual guidance or men who are divorcing their wives. Why? Because these are either not my strengths and/or not something I feel qualified to coach or advise on.
Examples of my work
A coach is a thinking partner – someone who partners with you to help you think through how to move forward. Coaching is based on the premise that you – the client- possesses all of the answers you need. A coach -me- is here to facilitate, help and support you with that process. A mentor meanwhile (also me) will offer you coaching, but also guidance, advice and direct feedback. Both disciplines are change oriented and will help you get where you want to go and support you all the way. The difference is simply in the interactive process itself.
What’s the difference between coaching and mentoring?
What are my qualifications?
Throughout my career I have been a writer, magazine editor, and a consultant for luxury brands from Clarins to Matthew Williamson, e-salon, Boden, Burberry and The Design Museum. I have coached and mentored artists, designer, journalists, editors and entrepreneurs. As an Animas qualified coach my training focused on the transformational aspects of coaching – that is on helping a client recognise that sometimes preconceived assumptions, or those that we take for granted, often shape our lives, or our reactions to a particular situation. The ultimate goal for a transformational coach, is to help the client shift their perspective or frame of reference on a specific problem, or a life experience and enable them to move on.
How I work.
I work on Zoom or in person. I begin all of my coaching and mentoring relationships with a 30 minutes discovery session, during which, we will talk through your goals, and I will answer any questions you might have. The purpose of this session is for us both to decide upon whether we are a good fit. After this, I leave it to you to get in touch via email or text, when we will establish how many sessions you would like. I recommend five sessions to begin with – but sometimes just one full session is enough to begin ‘the shift’.

Tina helped me map out how I could take the next step in my career by thoughtfully challenging me to think about what I really wanted from my work. I would highly recommend her as a coach.

I was going through a difficult divorce and Tina really helped me focus and decide on what was most important. We set weekly goals, which I found really calming through what could have been a terrible experience. I felt genuinely empowered after every session to move forward with my life!

Once I was a high-flying PR executive in San Francisco, then I gave it all up to have children! Now my birds are flying the nest and Tina helped me focus on regrouping and find a new career. She asked difficult questions and was willing to patiently wait until I found the answers myself. I loved our Zoom sessions together and looked forward to them each week.

I was about to make a daunting move back to full time work, after a few years of self-employment abroad. I was unsure about whether to pursue my old line of work, or to try transferring my experience and skills to a new sector I thought I might find more personally rewarding. Tina was a great help when it came to understanding my own priorities and looking at my situation, without the day to day worries and stresses getting in the way. She helped me make a decision and better understand what I actually wanted from my career.
