Interviewing one of my heroes, Mr Yamamoto. After Mrs Prada and Mr Lagerfeld, he has the best sense of humour

I wrote about sexy, slouchy sportswear in my column this week with some verve. That’s probably because fashion has finally caught up with the way I dress (it had to happen eventually) save the heels which I still can’t tolerate no matter how hard I try.

sportswear from sexy to slouchy

i once wore some shoes that turned my toes blue in under 30 minutes – Manolos – seen here at my launch party for WSJ magazine….apparently my feet looked (according to someone who knows ) like I had frostbite…And yes, since you ask Mr Murdoch and DVF are also in the pic…

Manolos at WSJ magazine launch party…

I sold the shoes and I regret it, because they were expensive and because they were a work of art which would have looked better on my mantle than on my feet…

In any case, whilst scouting this week on Bond St, I was reminded of whilst I still sometimes like the West End…for starters there’s my favourite store on the planet

You can’t beat an SJ Philips window, not just because its full of sparklers but also because its of the pedigree of the past owners of the jewels. Imagine the action these rings have seen….

and then there’s miu miu – a store entirely unsuitable for MAWs (Middle Aged Women) but fabulous nonetheless thanks to Miuccia Prada’s trademark tongue in cheek humour….especially where the glittery, sparkly shoes are concerned…

I’m ending with some flowers, because really they are better than diamonds, or shoes, or almost anything else in life (aside from children and books and well you know..)

namaste..xx

I’ve been away for a while so here’s a recap of what i’ve been up to in the last week or so… How to dress like The Queen: last Friday’s column in The Wall St Journal – I’m a republican (of the French variety) but still, you have to hand it to a woman who has created her own style and stuck to it for 60 years…. read it here
